Wind power How does it work?

Wind energy is produced by the force that the wind exerts on the wind turbine blades, rotating them to between 10 and 20 revolutions per minute.These blades are connected to a generator which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

The amount of energy produced
by a wind turbine depends on:

  • the speed of the wind , primarily;
  • the surface swept by the blades;
  • the density of the air.

Wind turbines require:

  • minimal input wind, typically 12 to 14 km / h to start to rotate and generate electricity;
  • winds of 50 to 60 km / h to produce at full power;
  • winds below 90 km / h when the milestone of 90 km / h is exceeded, it is necessary to interrupt production to avoid equipment failure.
